ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host Indiana (Pa.) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC). The Lakers come into the game with an 8-16 overall record and are 5-13 in PSAC play. The Crimson Hawks enter at 19-2, 15-2 PSAC.                                 
 
Mercyhurst enters Wednesday night's game off a loss at home Saturday afternoon to Edinboro, 77-51. Alex Artise and Natalie Piaggesi led the Lakers in scoring, each posting 14 points on a combined 12-of-30 shooting from the floor. Mercyhurst recorded a season-high 16 offensive rebounds against the Fighting Scots but were outrebounded for the game, 41-34. Piaggesi remains one of the top ten scorers in the PSAC (9th), averaging 14.5 points per game. As a team, Mercyhurst is shooting 42.3% from the field this season, good enough for sixth in the conference.
 
Indiana (Pa.) comes into the MAC off a win over Gannon, 74-53, to remain tied for first in the West with California (Pa.). Lindsay Stamp led all scorers with 25 and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Stamp leads the PSAC scoring average with 19.9 points while teammate Mathe Marita is fourth in the country in assist to turnover ratio (2.84). Both of the losses IUP has suffered this season have come to the hands of California (Pa.), who holds the tie breaker advantage in the Western Division.    
 
Mercyhurst split a pair of meetings last season, as the Lakers upset Indiana (Pa.), 73-64, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Earlier this season, Mercyhurst dropped a 65-45 decision at the Kovalchick Complex.
 
At halftime of both the women and men's game, fans will be randomly selected to participate in a game of knockout for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Cornerstone.
