CLARION, Pa. -- Mercyhurst University kept its postseason hopes alive with a 3-0 sweep at Clarion on Saturday afternoon, 25-22, 25-24, 25-18. However, the Lakers needed help from California (Pa.) to secure one of the final PSAC Western Division playoff spots, and instead it was the Vulcans, a 3-2 winner over Edinboro, who snagged the remaining postseason playoff spot with their victory.
The Lakers (18-15, 13-9 PSAC) now await word from the NCAA regional committee on a possible postseason berth. Meanwhile, Clarion remains in the hunt to host a conference playoff game with its 19-15, 15-7 PSAC record.
