EDINBORO, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team dropped a, 2-0, decision Wednesday night at Sox Harrison Stadium. With the loss, the Lakers snap their three game win streak and fall to 5-4-2 overall, 4-4-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. Kristen Koch recorded 8-of-10 shots on net for the Lakers.
Alexis Becker gave the Fighting Scots a, 1-0, advantage in the 40th minute when she received a cross from teammate Alex Root. Root's cross pass landed in front of the net where Becker was able to then loft the ball over Koch for her second goal of the season.
Edinboro would make it a two score game 14 minutes into the second half when Halle Hammer blasted a shot from 25 yards out off a rebound. It was Hammer's sixth goal of the season.
Mercyhurst played most of the game in their own defensive third as the Fight Scots outshot the Lakers 16-5 (10-1 in the first half). Edinboro would go on to post 10 shots on goal to Mercyhurst's three. The Fighting Scots also held the corner advantage, 9-2.
The Lakers' struggles with Edinboro continue as the Fighting Scots move to 6-0-1 against Mercyhurst in its last seven meetings.
Mercyhurst will look to get back to its winning ways Saturday at home in a conference battle against Shippensburg. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
