Women’s Soccer Blanks Millersville, 2-0, in Regular Season Finale

MILLERSVILLE, PA – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team shutout Millersville, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in its regular season finale. With the win, the Lakers improved their record to 8-8-2 overall and 6-8-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. The Marauders conclude their season at 5-12 overall, 4-12 PSAC.

The Lakers tallied their first goal with five minutes remaining in the first half when Rebekah Craig (Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland) blasted a shot from 18 yards out to the upper left corner for her first goal of the season. She was assisted by senior Kristina Roberti (Webster, N.Y.). It was Roberti's third assist on the year.

Senior Lauren Testa (Rochester, N.Y.) would record her sixth goal of the season in the 54th minute after she caught the goalie out of position and slid into the ball, placing it right side.

Junior Kristen Koch (Fairport, N.Y.) saved nine shots and posted her second shutout of the season. Her record improved to 3-6-2 on the year.

Mercyhurst outshot the Millersville (22-16), but the Marauders placed three more shots on net than the Lakers (9-6). Mercyhurst held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.

The Lakers won their first regular season finale since October 29, 2010. The win came over cross-town rival Gannon, 7-1. Mercyhurst finishes the season 11th in the PSAC.
