Field Hockey Blanked by Bloomsburg, 1-0, Saturday Afternoon

ERIE, PA- The Mercyhurst field hockey team was shutout Saturday afternoon at home to Bloomsburg, 1-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. The Lakers fall to 7-9 overall and 4-5 PSAC, while Bloomsburg improves to 9-8, 5-4 PSAC.

The huskies would score the games lone goal with 10 minutes to play in the first half. Bloomsburg's Whitney Kowski poked a shot past Laker goalkeeper Sam Takac near the left post. It was Kowski's third goal of the season, and she was assisted by Stephanie Halsted, who dished a pass from the middle of the box to the left post.

Bloomsburg outshot the Mercyhurst, 17-12, while the Lakers held the corner advantage, 10-8.

With the loss, Takac's record drops to 7-9 in net as she recorded eight saves on nine shots on goal Saturday.

Mercyhurst will be back in action Wednesday, October 28, at Indiana (Pa.). Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
