ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will play host to Mansfield in the final Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover this season. Wednesday night's game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC).
The Lakers enter Wednesday night's contest after losing a pair of games over the weekend to two eastern division opponents. Saturday, the Lakers traveled to Shippensburg, where the Raiders handed Mercyhurst their tenth loss of the season, 70-46. The Lakers moved on to play Kutztown Sunday but fell again to the Golden Bears, 76-53.
Angela Heintz led the team in scoring both nights, posting 15 points Saturday and 13 Sunday.
Natalie Piaggesi recorded her third double-double of the season Sunday, as she scored ten points and grabbed ten rebounds. Mercyhurst is shooting 41.9 % from the field this season and is averaging 63.2 points per game.
Mansfield is ninth in the Eastern Division, coming into Wednesday's game with a 1-12 overall record and are 0-9 in PSAC play. The Mountaineers enter Wednesday after dropping a pair of crossover games, losing at home to Slippery Rock, 75-65, and to Edinboro, 85-43. Katie Fitzpatrick is scoring 11.0 points per game to lead Mansfield. Brielle Kelly follows with 9.4 points and leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 5.8 rebounds a game. The Mountaineers are allowing 74.0 points per game and are averaging 59.0 points per contest.
