ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host Pitt-Johnstown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup. Saturday afternoon's game is scheduled to tipoff at 1:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC).  
 
The Lakers defeated Clarion, 53-41, Wednesday night at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium. Alex Artise and Jessica Bell each scored 12 points to lead the Lakers in scoring, while Natalie Piaggesi and Artise both pulled down six rebounds, a team-high. After taking a two point lead into halftime, 23-21, Mercyhurst forced 17 second half turnovers to help take control of the game. They would go onto to capitalize off the pressure defense, scoring 24 points off 26 total forced turnovers. As a team, the Lakers shot 40.8% (20-49) from the field and recorded a season-high 13 steals.
 
After losing a close battle to Gannon at home, 67-64, the Mountain Cats remain fifth in the PSAC Western Division with a 9-6 overall (6-5 PSAC) record. They enter Saturday's contest first in the conference in scoring, averaging 80.5 points per game. Jasmine Harper leads the Mountain Cats in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.0 points and 9.1 rebounds. She is the third leading scorer in the PSAC. Pitt-Johnstown is shooting 43.0% from the floor this year.
 
With Pitt-Johnstown entering the PSAC last season, Mercyhurst is 0-2 against the Mountain Cats in conference play.
