ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team ended their four game losing streak with a win over Daemen College (NY), 3-2.

The Laker's struck first 23 seconds into the second half on a goal from Junior Lauren Testa. Testa dribbled down the left side and beat the keeper to the right side of the net to take the lead, 1-0.

Three minutes later, at the 48:41 mark, Testa, the Rochester, NY native, received a pass from Rachel Fulton that set up an open shot from the middle of the box that she was able to put in the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage. It was Testa's fifth goal of the season and Fulton's first assist.

Senior Victoria Alai recorded her first goal of the season in the 68th minute. Alai put a strike into the air from the top of the box beating the keeper to the right. The Lakers would lead, 3-0, with a little over 21 minutes left to play.

The Wildcats would make it interesting, as they scored two late goals to put pressure on Mercyhurst.

Daemen's Lindsay Stoddard would score off a deflected pass of a Laker defender to set up a shot in front of the net. Stoddard was able to beat Mercyhurst goalkeeper Ellie McDougall to make the score 3-1 with 12 and half minutes to play.

Rachael Banasik would then score in the 87th minute on a shot taken right outside the box beating McDougall to the upper left.

Time would eventually run out on the Wildcats' comeback as the game would end as a Laker victory, 3-2.

Mercyhurst out-shot Daemen 12-7 in the contest and McDougall recorded four saves. Her record after the win improves to 2-3-1.

Testa received the only yellow card of the game in the 63rd minute.

Mercyhurst's record is now 3-4-1 (2-4-1 PSAC) and the Wildcats fall to 2-6-0 overall.
