ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team won their third game in a row Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2-0, in a non-conference matchup against Cedarville (Ohio).

Jack Watson scored his 11th goal of the season in the third minute of the game off a pass from Senior Fernando Martinez. Martinez's pass came from the left side meeting Watson in the box to set up his shot beating the keeper right side.

Freshman Miguel Navarro added the second goal of the game in the 50th minute. Navarro dribbled just inside the box where he struck a shot into the back of the net for 2-0 lead.

The Yellow Jackets had a few opportunities to get on the board, but goalkeeper Ryan Arvin would not allow that to happen. Arvin, starting in his second consecutive game, recorded his second straight shutout on five saves.

Mercyhurst outshot Cedarville 8-5 in the game.

There were also two yellow cards given out, one to each team.  Lakers' junior Thomas Davis received one in the 10th minute and Zachary Harris was awarded his in the 44th.

With the win, Mercyhurst's record improves to 7-2-0 (1-1-0 PSAC), and the Yellow Jackets are now 4-1-2.

The men will resume Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play Friday, October 3, at Shippensburg University. Kickoff is set for 3:30p.m.
