Field Hockey Hosts #10 Slippery Rock in Home Opener Wednesday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team hosts #10 Slippery Rock on Wednesday, September 17. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Tullio Field.

Mercyhurst is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC this season. It won at then-ninth-ranked IUP, 2-1, September 9. Kelsey Lovelace and Andrea Goldbach each scored, while Jess Wess made five saves in net. The Lakers pushed #4 West Chester September 13, taking a 3-2 lead in the second half before the Rams rallied to win.
 
Slippery Rock has a 3-1 mark, including a 2-1 win over Seton Hill in its PSAC opener September 10. The Rock followed that with a 1-0 home loss to Limestone September 13.
 
Blair Pembleton leads the Lakers with four goals, while Marissa Faso has scored three times. Goldbach has a goal and three assists. Wess is allowing 3.12 goals per game and has a .757 save percentage.
 
Anna Swearingen has scored two goals and Allison Shade has added a goal and an assist. Carlee DuMars is recording a 0.98 goals against average in four starts.
 
In 2013, Mercyhurst defeated SRU, 4-1, on October 25. Faso and Lovelace both scored in the victory.
