LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team fell twice at the Bucknell Invitational Saturday. The Lakers lost, 13-6, to Johns Hopkins and then dropped an 11-10 decision to Washington and Jefferson.
Against W&J, the Lakers were tied after a quarter. The Presidents took a 5-3 halftime lead. Mercyhurst scored four goals in the third, but W&J held on for a one goal win in the fourth.
Alex Strong led with three goals and two assists, while
Joe Yamamoto and
Jack Howe each posted two goals and two helpers.
Jordan Hodur added a goal and an assist.
Andrew Too-A-Foo made 10 saves in net.
In the match with Johns Hopkins, Mercyhurst went down 5-3 at the half and and could not put together a rally in the second half.
Strong tallied a hat trick and Howe registered a pair of goals. Too-A-Foo contributed 10 stops in goal.
Mercyhurst (2-4) concludes action at Bucknell with a pair of matches tomorrow. It faces Bucknell at 9:20 a.m. and then takes on George Washington at 5:20 p.m.
