ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's water polo team continued their season by hosting Navy at home. Despite having many shots on goal, the Lakers ultimately fell short by a score of 20-4.
In the first quarter, Navy opened to a 1-0 early lead. A minute later,
Asher Jones scored for Mercyhurst to tie the game at one. Navy proceed to score four more goals, taking a 5-1 lead going into the second quarter.
Navy continued their offensive surge, scoring eight goals in the second quarter to take a 13-1 lead into halftime.
The Lakers opened the third quarter with a goal from
Declan Puacz, keeping the Lakers in the game. Navy proceeded to score four more goals, to take a 17-2 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Mercyhurst opened up the fourth quarter with a goal coming from
Aiden Botterill. Navy responded with a goal of their own.
Constantine Romanov got on the board for the Lakers as Mercyhurst and Navy continued to trade goals. Navy scored two more goals, taking a 20-4 victory.
The Lakers return to the pool on Sunday, Oct. 3 when they square off against George Washington. Coverage is set to begin at 10 a.m.
