ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst University Student-Athlete Advisory Board hosted the Seventh Annual Laker Showdown Thursday night. The event, held in the PAC, raised $2,045 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
An audience of over 300 people saw 10 Laker teams perform. The women's basketball team took first place with its rendition of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The wrestling team placed second with a choreographed medley and football finished third with a performance of the Saturday Night Live "Chippendale" sketch and R. Kelly's "Bump and Grind".
Other performances included women's soccer, softball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, men's hockey, cross country, and women's rowing. Sophomore hockey student-athlete Ed DeWald hosted the event for the second straight year.
