SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Mercyhurst cross country team traveled to the land of the Fighting Irish to compete in the storied National Catholic Invitational. Facing a field of 13 teams, the Lakers finished 11th in the competitive meet hosted by Notre Dame.
The men landed a 11th place finish out of 13 teams with a score of 331 in the men's 8K, they competed against 139 runners. Leading the way once again was Freshman Thomas Gaydos who finished 47th with a time of 26:26.50. Following that up was Xavier Mohamed who finished 66th with a time of 26:57.80 and Sawyer Bonnet finished 87th with a time of 27:29.50.
Next up was Daniel Derby with a 96th place finish and time of 27:55.10, Camden Pierce finishing 109th and a time of 28:31.20, rounding out the race was Max Dillaman at 123rd with a time of 29:06.50 and Alexander Rowe finishing 132nd with a time of 30:45.70.
The women also finished 11th out of 13 teams with a score of 296 in the women's 5K, they competed against 130 runners. For the third straight meet, Molly McIntyre found herself leading the way for the Lakers with a 59th place finish and time of 20:10.30, following shortly after her was Reagan Pettis who finished 74th with a time of 20:44.70.
Next, Rowan Milliron finished 79th with a time of 20:53.30 with Bella Homorody closely behind finishing 85th with a time of 20:59.40. Caitlin Dugan came in at 94th with a time of 21:17.10, Kaila Szczygielski finished 106th with a time of 22:01.00 and rounding out the race was Kathleen Tarlo who finished 111th with a time of 22:12.40.
The Lakers take a brief stint off before heading to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on October 4.
