ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host #3 Gannon Saturday, February 8, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game is set for a 1 p.m. start. The contest is part of the PSAC's "Hooping for a Cure" program, Mercyhurst's Third Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day event, and senior day for three Lakers.

The Lakers are 6-14 overall and 4-6 in the PSAC. Adrienne Kloecker leads the team with 15.6 points per game, while Alayna White is recording 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds a game.
 
Gannon is 21-1 overall and 10-1 in the conference. Nettie Blake is averaging 14.8 points and 8.4 boards, while Jen Papich and Brittany Batts are combining for 24.7 points per game. GU clinched a PSAC Tournament spot with its win over Slippery Rock earlier this week.
 
Mercyhurst is first in the PSAC in rebounding margin, grabbing seven more boards per game than its opponents. It also defends the three-point line, holding foes to 30.4 percent shooting from long range, good for fifth in the league.
 
The Lady Knights pace the PSAC in scoring defense (60.5), scoring margin (17.0), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.15) this season. Batts leads the nation in three-point shooting, hitting 50.7 percent of her attempts from deep.
 
On December 7, Gannon won, 69-57, over Mercyhurst. White led the Lakers with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Alex Artise posted 13 points and eight boards. Blake put up 19 points and 12 rebounds for GU.

Mercyhurst will wear special pink uniforms as part of the PSAC's "Hooping for a Cure" initiative to raise breast cancer awareness. Donations will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will go to Play4Kay, part of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Prior to the game, Mercyhurst will hosts its Third Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day event. The fun begins in the rec center at 11:30 a.m. For more information, please click here.
