ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts Pitt-Johnstown in the regular season finale on Wednesday, February 26. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

To qualify for the PSAC Tournament, the Lakers need to beat UPJ and have both Clarion and Seton Hill lose Wednesday. Clarion plays at Edinboro, while Seton Hill hosts California (Pa.). With those three results, Mercyhurst will take the sixth spot in the PSAC Tournament and travel to Cal for a first round contest on Saturday, March 1.
 
Mercyhurst is 6-19 overall and 4-11 in the Western Division. It fell, 82-64, at Clarion on Sunday. Alex Artise scored a career-high 21 points on five three-pointers. She was named PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week for her efforts. Artise is the third Lakers to win Freshman of the Week honors this season.
 
Pitt-Johnstown is 9-16 overall and 6-9 in the league. It can clinch the fifth seed in the PSAC Tournament with a win or a Clarion loss Wednesday. The Lady Cats lost, 71-50, to #5 Gannon last weekend. Nicole Carman scored 12 points off the bench in the defeat.
 
Adrienne Kloecker leads the Lakers with 14.9 points per game this season. Alayna White is averaging 12.7 points and 8.5 rebounds a game. Mercyhurst is third in the PSAC in rebounding margin, pulling down 5.1 more boards than its opponents this season.
 
UPJ features four players averaging double figures this season. Jasmine Harper is putting 13.3 points, while Carman, Leah Hansen, and Kelsey Sleighter are scoring between 11 and 12.1 points per game.
 
On January 25, UPJ beat Mercyhurst, 67-62. Alayna White led with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Mariah Penascino recorded her first double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.
