ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's basketball team is set for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at #7 Indiana (Pa.) Wednesday night.
The Lakers are coming off back-to-back wins versus non-conference opponents Daemen and Urbana last week to improve their record to 3-3 overall, while their conference record remains at 1-1.
Mercyhurst comes into Wednesday's game off their latest win this past Saturday in a non-conference matchup at Urbana, 80-72. Junior
Sean Beins posted a career-high, scoring 19 points. Three Lakers ended scoring in double figures. Beins finished 7-9 from the field, while Dailey added 14 points and Onana 12. Mercyhurst shot 27-50 (54%) from the field and out rebounded Urbana 35-30.
Indiana (Pa.) comes into Wednesday's game 7-0, 1-0 in PSAC play and ranked seventh in the country. They earned their seventh victory of the year Sunday, November 30, over Saint Rose, 64-47. Devante Chance led the way for the Crimson Hawks with 13 points, as Shawn Dyer and Brandon Norfleet also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
The last time Mercyhurst faced off against IUP at the Kovalchick Center, the Lakers knocked off, then, ranked #10 Indiana (Pa.), 67-56, in a PSAC Tournament Quarterfinal March 4 of last season. The Lakers advanced to the PSAC Final Four for the second time in three seasons with the win.
