Men’s Hoops to Host Notre Dame (OH) Friday

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's basketball team looks to extend their win streak to five with a non-conference matchup against Notre Dame (OH) on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Live stats for the game will be available at the link provided, click here.

Behind a career-high 23 points from Gerrae Williams Saturday afternoon, the Lakers won their fourth consecutive game and fifth of the season by defeating Edinboro at McComb Fieldhouse. Mercyhurst went on to beat the Fighting Scots, 67-65, for the third consecutive time the past two seasons.

Three Lakers scored in double figures during Saturday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win. Williams finished 9-14 from the field while Callon Dailey added 15 points on 6-11 shooting, and Koyode Ajenifuja scored a career-high ten points on 4-6 shooting. Mercyhurst shot 26-53 (49.1%) from the field and 8-20 (40.0%).

Dailey and Williams lead the Lakers in scoring this season, averaging 12.0 and 11.6 points per game respectively. James Ewing does the battling down low, as he is pulling down nearly six rebounds a game at 5.9.

The Falcons come into Friday's contest after splitting a pair of games last week. Notre Dame faced off against #1 West Liberty in a conference battle that the Falcons won a year ago at West Liberty. However, the Hilltoppers had other plans this time around, taking down the Falcons, 120-85. However, Notre Dame would earn their fourth straight home victory December 6 in a conference battle with Wheeling Jesuit, 79-64. Notre Dame is averaging 90.0 points per game and is shooting 45.4% from the field. Guards Lawrence DeArmond and Tyree Gaiter are both averaging 23 points a game to lead the Falcons.

The two schools have only met three times since Notre Dame added basketball in 2001. Mercyhurst leads the all-time series 3-0.
