ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host Tiffin University (Ohio) in a non-conference matchup Tuesday, November 25, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The Lakers (0-4, 0-2 PSAC) nearly came away with a victory over cross-town rival Gannon Saturday, November 22, at home. Mercyhurst fought back in the second half to pull within one with under a minute to play. However, the Golden Knights were able to sink two late free throws to withstand the Mercyhurst rally and escape the MAC with the win, 68-65.
Adrienne Kloecker and
Kelley McBroom each scored 14 points to lead the Lakers in scoring. The 14 points was McBroom's career-high, as she and teammate
Angela Heintz combined for 14 points over a span of three minutes to bring the Lakers back in to the game.
The Dragons of Tiffin University come into Tuesday's non-conference matchup 0-2, as they have yet to play a conference game this season. Tiffin is coming off a loss Saturday at home to Wisconsin-Parkside, 60-42. Center Bre Nauman led the team with 15 points and also grabbed eight boards. Nauman leads the Dragons in rebounding, averaging 8.5, while guard Kaylee Patton leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.0 points in her first two games.
The Lakers and Dragons have met a total of four times, as Tiffin leads the all-time series, 4-0.
