Mercyhurst Men’s Basketball to Face Daemen (N.Y.) in Non-Conference Matchup

Sean Beins scored eight points in nine minutes of action against Gannon Saturday afternoon.

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host Daemen (N.Y.) in a non-conference matchup Tuesday, November 25, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

 

Mercyhurst lost, 46-44, at the MAC Saturday, November 22, to move to 1-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play. Callon Dailey led the Lakers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Mercyhurst shot 33.3 percent from the field (17-51) and from three (7-21). Gannon out rebounded the Lakers, 38-28, while Mercyhurst only shot four free-throws (3-4) to the Golden Knights 19 (14-19). The loss brought the Lakers record to 1-4 overall.

 

Daemen (N.Y.) comes into Tuesday's non-conference game after losing to Holy Family University Saturday afternoon, 68-59, in non-conference action. The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 2-1overall. Forward Gerald Beverly led the Wildcats with 18 points, as he is averaging 18.7 points per game and eight rebounds through the first three contests. Daemen is averaging 77.3 points a game as a unit and is holding opponents to 66.0 points per game.

 

The Lakers hold the all-time series lead over Daemen, 13-1, while the only loss was suffered last year on November 23, 69-63. There were seven Mercyhurst players that scored at least six points in the non-conference loss.
