ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will host cross town rival #13 Gannon for the home opener Saturday, November 22. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The Lakers (0-3, 0-1 PSAC) come into Saturday afternoon's contest after falling in their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opener at California (Pa.), 69-57. Junior guard Adrienne Kloecker scored a team-high 16 points in her 16 minutes of action and teammate Angela Heintz added nine. Mercyhurst is shooting 45 percent from the floor over the first three contests. The Lakers are averaging 67.3 points per game, which ranks sixth in the PSAC West Division.
 
The Golden Knights come into the Saturday's rivalry winning their first two games by an average of 19.7 points per game. Gannon received their first PSAC victory Wednesday at Slippery Rock, 69-48. Jennie Thies scored a game high 21 points in her 25 minutes of action. Forward Thies has averaged a double-double in the first two contests, going for 16 points and 11.5 rebounds a game. Center Nettie Blake has also had a hot start, as she currently averages a double-double with 10.5 points and 15 rebounds.
 
The last time the Lakers beat the Golden Knights was the 2010-11 season, 66-56 at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Mercyhurst faced off twice against Gannon that year and came out victorious, winning the first at Gannon, 75-63. Gannon holds the all-time series lead, 52-27, a series that dates back to 1974-75.
