Box Score CLARION, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team fell at Clarion Saturday afternoon. The Lakers dropped the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match by scores of 27-25, 25-15, and 25-20.

Mercyhurst put together a rally midway through the first game to take control.
Camille Alvarez scored and then Clarion made three attack errors.
Lauren Kenny and
Lexi Stefanov teamed up for a block to extend the run and then Kenny posted a block of her own to give the Lakers a 13-11 edge. Kenny later recorded a pair of kills, putting Mercyhurst ahead, 19-15. Alvarez then tallied back-to-back points to make it 23-18. Alvarez and Stefanov each scored, but Clarion came back and took the opener, 27-25.

The Eagles went up 2-0 after a solid second frame, but the Lakers fought back in the third set. Kills by Kenny and Alvarez put Mercyhurst in the lead early.
Kelly Vitt found
Haley Adams for a point and a 10-6 advantage. The hosts rallied, though, going ahead, 14-11. The teams battled back and forth, with Adams and Stefanov scoring late. Eventually, Clarion came away with a three-point win.

Wegrzyn and Kenny led with 9.5 points apiece. Adams put up 7.5 points and Stefanov added 6.5 on the day. Vitt compiled 36 assists, while
Samantha Giardina posted 20 digs.

Mercyhurst fell to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the PSAC. Clarion moved to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

The Lakers will play four PSAC crossovers next weekend at Edinboro. Mercyhurst will take on Millersville and Shippensburg on Friday, October 10, and then face Lock Haven and Pitt-Johnstown the following day.
