ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team travels to Slippery Rock for a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match on Saturday, November 1. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
 
Mercyhurst is 8-7 overall and 6-5 in the league. It won, 4-1, at Mansfield on Tuesday. Kelsey Lovelace scored two goals and Jess Wess posted 15 saves in net.
 
Slippery Rock is 9-7 overall and 7-5 in the PSAC. It's coming off a 3-0 loss at #3 Shippensburg on Tuesday. Carlee DuMars recorded five saves in goal for SRU.
 
Blair Pembleton has put up 12 goals and seven assists to lead the Laker offense. Marissa Faso is second with 11 goals and four helpers. Lovelace has tallied eight goals. Wess has started all 15 contests in net, registering a 2.06 goals against average.
 
Kelsy Gustafson has scored five goals to pace The Rock. Allison Shade has added four goals and a pair of assists. DuMars has played every minute in goal, compiling a 1.30 goals against average.
 
Mercyhurst won, 4-3 in double overtime, against Slippery Rock on September 17. Pembleton, Faso, and Lovelace each scored for the Lakers, but a late Rock goal forced OT. At the 93:10 mark, Andrea Goldbach knocked in a loose ball to win it for the Lakers.
 
West Chester, Millersville, and Shippensburg have clinched spots in the PSAC Tournament. Three bids remain for the playoffs, as East Stroudsburg (7-4), SRU (7-5), Mercyhurst (6-5), and Kutztown (5-6), and IUP (4-7) compete for the remaining slots. Mercyhurst hosts West Chester on November 5 before closing the regular season at Bloomsburg on November 8.
