ERIE, Pa.- The #8/10 Mercyhurst women's hockey team hosts Northeastern for a pair of games this weekend at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. On Friday, October 17, the teams square off at 7 p.m. The following day, they meet again at 2 p.m. 
Mercyhurst is 3-0-1 this season. It picked up three points on its trip to Maine last weekend. The Lakers beat the Black Bears, 1-0, on October 10, as 
Sarah Robello scored the game's lone goal. The teams played to a 2-2 tie the next day, with 
Emily Janiga scoring both Mercyhurst goals. 
Northeastern has an 0-0-2 record, having tied Syracuse and RIT on the road last weekend. Kendall Coyne scored the Huskies' goal at Syracuse, while Hayley Masters and McKenna Brand each scored against RIT. Chloe Desjardins started both matches in goal, allowing three goals and making 45 saves. Coyne sat out last season, as she played for Team USA in the 2014 Winter Olympics. 
Amanda Makela has put together an outstanding start in goal for the Lakers. The senior has allowed two goals in four outings, totaling 78 saves. She recorded a shutout in each of her first three contests. Janiga leads Mercyhurst with three goals and a pair of assists this season. 
Jenna Dingeldein has posted four assists, while Robello has a goal and a helper. 
Coach 
Michael Sisti's squad has been strong on the penalty kill. They have not allowed a goal on 15 chances this season. Makela leads the nation with three shutouts, while her .975 save percentage ranks third in the country. 
The teams have not met since October 13, 2001, when Northeastern won, 2-0, at home.
