ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 64-58, to Millersville Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Adrienne Kloecker scored 20 points and
Alayna White recorded a double-double in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Marauders took a 45-37 lead with 13:46 remaining. Kloecker and White both scored to make it 45-41 with 13:03 left. The teams would follow with a scoreless stretch of 3:48 that featured a combined seven turnovers.

Millersville finally broke the spell with a layup at the 9:15 mark.
Mariah Penascino then found
Alex Artise for a three-pointer on the left wing. Carly Gallagher answered with a hoop for the Marauders, but White made a pair of layups, bringing the Lakers within one at 49-48 with 6:52 to play. Celeste Robinson drove inside, but
Natalie Piaggesi was there to reject her shot attempt and ignite a Laker fast break. Penascino finished on the other end, giving Mercyhurst a 50-49 edge with 6:26 showing on the clock.

The Marauders came back with four straight points, but a putback by Penascino made it a one-point game again. After two Marauder buckets, Penascino drained a trey, making it 57-55 with 2:15 left. The Lakers could only muster three free throws down the stretch, however, as Millersville sealed the road win.

Kloecker led with 20 points and five rebounds. White posted her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 boards. Penascino added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Piaggesi registered five points and eight boards. The Lakers outrebounded Millersville, 44-35. Robinson paced the Marauders with 26 points.

Kloecker hit a jumper on the first possession of the game before the visitors scored eight consecutive points. Layups by White and
Katie Fischer got Mercyhurst back in it and then Kloecker took over. The sophomore made two foul shots and then scored in the lane to even the score at 10. After a Penascino hoop, Kloecker sank a triple for a 15-14 advantage at the 11:38 mark.

The Marauders eventually gained a 29-20 lead, but Kloecker answered with a lay-in and a jump shot to inch closer. Fischer assisted on a McBroom three, making it 31-28 late in the frame. A Millersville three-pointer gave the visitors a 34-28 lead at the break.

The Lakers dropped to 3-10. They host Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, January 11. Tip-off for the PSAC Western Division game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Millersville improved to 7-6 this season.
