Box Score GREENSBURG, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 65-39, at Seton Hill Wednesday. The Lakers dropped to 4-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division after the game at McKenna Center.
Alex Artise hit a three-pointer for the first points of the game, but Seton Hill went ahead, 7-4, after four minutes.
Jessica Bell's layup with 15:35 left in the half got Mercyhurst back on the board.
Adrienne Kloecker followed with a trey to give the visitors a 9-7 edge at the 15:05 mark.
The Griffins regained the lead, but
Kelley McBroom drained a triple in the right corner to tie the game at 12 with 12:32 to go in the frame. A Bell lay-in put the Lakers ahead, but the hosts answered with a pair of three-pointers. An Artise trey and a Piaggesi bucket gave Mercyhurst a 19-18 advantage with under six minutes to play in the period. After a SHU hoop, Kloecker hit a jumper for a 21-20 lead at the 4:43 mark.
An 8-0 Griffin run put the home team ahead. McBroom scored late in the half, but Seton Hill went into the locker room with a 30-23 advantage. Bell and
Mariah Penascino each scored early in the second period, but the hosts pulled away, taking control as the half went on.
Artise and Kloecker each scored seven points, while Bell and
Laura McCauley had six apiece. Tiara Stossel led the Griffins with 18 points.
Mercyhurst fell to 6-13 overall and 4-5 in the PSAC. Seton Hill moved to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in the conference. The Lakers return to action on Wednesday, February 5, at California (Pa.).
