Women's Hoops Heads to West Chester, Cheyney This Weekend

Jessica Bell has started five games for the Lakers this season.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team travels to West Chester and Cheyney for a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover games this weekend. The Lakers play at West Chester on Friday, January 3, and at Cheyney on Saturday, January 4. Both contests are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.

Mercyhurst has a 2-8 record this season. Alayna White leads the team with 14.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 50 percent from the floor. Adrienne Kloecker is putting up 11.7 points and 5.9 boards a game, while Natalie Piaggesi is adding 10.4 points and six rebounds. Piaggesi was chosen PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week for her trio of games prior to the holiday break. The Lakers grab eight more rebounds than their opponent per game, good for second in the league.
 
West Chester is 8-3 in 2013-14. Dallas Ely is scoring 20 points per game, having hit 30 three-pointers this season. Brittany Sicinski is posting 16.9 points and seven rebounds a game. Kendall Benovy is recording 12.5 points and 7.3 boards per outing. The Rams lead the PSAC in scoring at 83.1 points per game.
 
Cheyney is 1-9 this season. Kyra Hines-Allen paces the Wolves with 10.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Amber Genwright is adding 9.9 points a contest. Cheyney ranks 18th in the conference with 52.8 points a game.
 
Neither game counts in PSAC standings.
