Men's Basketball Falls at Slippery Rock Saturday Afternoon

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team lost, 64-43, at Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon. James Ewing put up nine points and eight rebounds in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game at Morrow Field House.
 
Anthony Lytle opened scoring with a steal and a jumper in the first minute. After two Rock scores, Lytle hit another jump shot. A Ewing bucket at the 14:24 mark made it 9-6 Rock. The hosts then reeled off a 35-14 run that carried into the second half to take charge of the contest. Slippery Rock led 35-20 at halftime and then scored the first nine points of the second period.
 
Lytle hit 4-6 field goal tries for 10 points. Ewing totaled nine points and eight rebounds off the bench. Josh Martin led four SRU players with 14 points.
 
The Lakers are now 8-8 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC. The Rock moved to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Mercyhurst hosts Clarion in another Western Division game on Wednesday, January 22, at the MAC.
