ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team travels to Slippery Rock on Saturday, January 18. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Morrow Field House.

Mercyhurst is 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the Western Division after beating Edinboro, 77-65 in overtime, on Wednesday.

Andy Hoying made the game-tying layup with five seconds left in regulation. The Lakers then scored the first nine points of overtime to move into a first-place tie in the division.

Slippery Rock has an overall record of 13-4 and is 4-1 in the conference. The Rock did not play Wednesday after beating Edinboro, 64-54, on January 11. Kelvin Dixon led with 23 points, while Tabari Perry posted nine points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks.

The Lakers give up 61.5 points per game, good for sixth in Division II. They have held all 15 of their opponents under their season scoring average. Individually,
Jonathan Ouegnin leads the team in scoring (10.8), rebounding (5.6), and assists (3.2). He is one of two players in the PSAC leading his team in all three categories (Joe Bell, Mansfield).

The Rock is also a strong defensive team. SRU ranks 14
th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 64.1 points per game. It is third in field goal percentage defense, containing foes to 36.6 percent shooting this season. It is fourth in rebounding margin, grabbing 11.5 more boards a game than its opponents. Maurice Lewis-Briggs is scoring 16.2 points and pulling down 7.1 rebounds per game, while Perry is putting up 11.5 points and 7.8 boards a game.

The teams split two meetings last season, with The Rock taking a 56-48 decision at the Morrow Field House and Mercyhurst rallying for a 60-57 victory at the MAC.
