Women's Basketball Heads to California (Pa.) Saturday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will make the trip to California (Pa.) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game Saturday, February 23. The contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Convocation Center.

The Lakers lost, 62-50, to #9 Gannon on Wednesday, falling to 7-17 overall and 7-13 in the conference. Dana Banda scored 16 points and Kaylee Foster totaled 12 in the defeat. Banda dished out three assists, moving to within seven of the all-time Mercyhurst record of 384, held by Katie Lorincz.
 
Cal has a 17-7 overall mark after beating Slippery Rock, 78-55, on Wednesday. The Vulcans are alone in fourth place in the Western Division at 13-7 in league action. They are also ranked fifth in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings, released earlier this week.
 
Mercyhurst is sixth in the PSAC West, having already clinched a PSAC Tournament berth. It will play on the road in the first round of the conference playoffs on Saturday, March 2.
 
Foster is the Lakers' top scorer at 10.8 points per game. Banda averages 9.6 points per outing. Stephanie Michael is putting up 14 points per game to lead Cal. She has hit 65 three-pointers this season.
 
The Vulcans won at Mercyhurst, 61-50, on February 2. Michael dropped 23 points, while Foster paced the Lakers with 16 points and four steals.
