ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team travels to California (Pa.) on Saturday, February 23, for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

The Lakers are 16-10 overall and 12-8 in the PSAC after defeating #24 Gannon, 44-36, on Wednesday night. Mercyhurst scored its fewest points in a win ever and allowed the second-fewest points in program history.
Callon Dailey scored 14 points and the Lakers held GU scoreless in the final 3:59 of the game to pull out an eight-point victory.
Cal is 10-14 overall and 9-11 in the conference, including an 85-53 loss to Slippery Rock on Wednesday. Mitchell Weedon scored 12 points, but the Vulcans were outrebounded, 51-25, in the loss.
Mercyhurst is alone in fourth place in the Western Division, two games behind Gannon and a game ahead of Edinboro. With two Laker wins and two GU losses, Mercyhurst would finish third in the division. The Lakers still need an Edinboro loss in one of the two remaining regular season games to clinch the fourth seed and a first-round home contest. The Fighting Scots host Mercyhurst on February 27.
Cal is in the sixth place in the Western Division. It will go on the road in the first round of the conference tournament.
Luis Leao leads Mercyhurst with 18.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Jonathan Ouegnin is putting up 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per outing, while shooting 52.1 percent and 80 percent from the foul line. Mercyhurst ranks fourth nationally in free throw shooting (77.2 percent) and 15
th in Division II in scoring defense (59.9).
Keith Lowe paces Cal with 15.9 points, while Quentin Harding is averaging 10 points and five boards per game. The Vulcans are shooting 38.4 percent from three-point range, tops in the PSAC.
The Lakers won, 70-67 in overtime, against Cal on February 2 at the MAC. Ouegnin sank a three-pointer at the buzzer to escape with the win. Mercyhurst rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half, eventually tying the game on Dailey's putback with 1.9 seconds left in regulation.
