Women's Soccer Travels to #7 Cal U for PSAC Postseason Action

Senior Perrin Kern has scored four goals and added three assists for 11 points this season.
ERIE, Pa. – For the first time since 2009, the Mercyhurst University women's soccer team captured a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff spot. The Lakers finished their season with an overall record of 9-8-1 and 8-7-1 in the PSAC.

The Lakers will travel to California (Pa.) as the eighth seed of the PSAC tournament. No. 7 California (Pa.) captured the first seed with an overall record of 15-2-1 and 15-1-0 in the PSAC. The match will take place at the California (Pa.) soccer field with kickoff beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Earlier in the season, the Lakers hosted the Vulcans' at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field when they suffered a 3-0 loss. Despite the loss and being outshot 13 to 3, the Lakers are 2-1-0 against nationally ranked teams this season after upsetting both Millersville and Gannon.

Sophomore Lauren Testa leads the team with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Testa has collected two game-winning goals and has attempted 31 shots on net. Senior Perrin Kern is second in scoring with four goals and has added three assists for 11 points. Sophomore Janine Wong leads the Lakers in assists with seven and has also collected one goal (9 points).

Sophomore Ellie McDougall has been a key player for Mercyhurst as the starting goaltender throughout the entire season. McDougall has posted a record of 9-8-1 after starting in all 18 matches this season. McDougall has played in 1658 minutes and has allowed 34 goals for a 1.85 goals against average. McDougall has also posted five shutouts this season.
