Women's Hoops Hosts #23 Ashland on Fan Appreciation Day

Mariah Penascino has started all four games this season.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts #23 Ashland on Saturday, November 30, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Conference. The non-league game is set for a 1 p.m. start. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Day, making admission to the game free of charge.

The Lakers are 1-3 this season, including a 76-60 loss at Tiffin on November 26. Alayna White led with 18 points and six rebounds in the loss. The senior is pacing the Mercyhurst attack with 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this year. Adrienne Kloecker is putting up 13 points and 6.5 boards per contest. The Lakers have started three freshmen in all four games, with each of the rookies (Katie Fischer, Natalie Piaggesi, and Mariah Penascino) scoring at least 10 points one or more time.

Ashland, the defending NCAA Champion, is 1-1 early. AU lost three starters, including national player of the year Kari Daugherty, from last season's title team. Taylor Woods and Alyssa Miller are combining for 47 points per game. Woods made nine three-pointers in the Eagles' last outing, a home loss to Indianapolis.
