TIFFIN, Ohio- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 76-60, at Tiffin Tuesday night.
Alayna White led with 18 points and six rebounds in the non-conference contest.

The Dragons took an early lead and never relinquished it, maintaining a steady margin for much of the night. They went up, 4-0, before White tied the game with two baskets.
Mariah Penascino assisted on both hoops. A three-point play put Tiffin back on top at the 17:21 mark. Trailing by six,
Natalie Piaggesi scored, but another three-point Dragon play made it 13-6.

White scored inside again, but the hosts answered with seven straight points to go ahead, 20-8, with 13:05 to play in the half.
Adrienne Kloecker slowed the spurt with a layup, but Tiffin came back with a three-pointer. Penascino made it 23-13 with a trey at the 12:03 mark.

Later in the period,
Katie Fischer sank a triple to cut the deficit to 26-18 with 9:34 remaining. The Dragons hit a three of their own before White connected on a pair of free throws. A
Kelley McBroom lay-in made it 29-22 with 7:31 left. Kloecker scored again, but the home team responded with the next five points to go up 36-24 at the 5:32 mark. Tiffin stretched the margin to 15 before going into the locker room with a 43-30 advantage.

The Lakers looked better in the second half, but were unable to make up much ground on the scoreboard. Fischer and Piaggesi both hit two jumpers in the first four minutes, making it a 47-38 game. Free throws by McBroom and
Haley Witchella kept Mercyhurst in striking distance, but four quick Dragon points made it 56-42 with 11:40 showing on the clock. The Lakers did not get closer than ten the rest of the night.

White hit 7-12 shots on her way to 18 points. She grabbed six rebounds in 21 minutes. Fischer added 13 points and four steals. Kloecker totaled eight points, six boards, and four assists. Five Dragons scored in double figures.

Mercyhurst shot 23-59 (39 percent) from the floor, while Tiffin hit 26-49 (53.1 percent) of its tries. The Lakers held a 37-32 edge on rebounds, including a 16-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
