PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 52-50, at Lake Erie College Saturday.
Adrienne Kloecker scored 20 points to lead the Lakers in the non-conference game.

Kloecker hit a jumper with 27 seconds left to tie the contest at 50. Daija Jones made two free throws for the Storm with five seconds remaining. The Lakers could not connect on a potential game-winning shot on the other end.

The teams went back and forth in the first half, with Mercyhurst holding a small lead for much of the action. Kloecker got the Lakers on the board and then
Natalie Piaggesi made a layup.
Katie Fischer made a three-pointer with 16:38 to play, giving Mercyhurst a 7-5 edge. Baskets by
Alayna White and
Haley Witchella expanded the margin to 11-5.

Kloecker scored four points to keep the Storm at bay, but two LEC treys put the home team ahead, 22-21, 4:50 to go. Kloecker nailed a triple on the Lakers' next trip down and then
Mariah Penascino scored inside with 1:37 showing on the clock. A Storm hoop made it 26-24 at halftime.

Piaggesi made two lay-ins early in the second half, giving Mercyhurst a 30-26 edge. Two White foul shots, a Kloecker bucket, and a Piaggesi layup made it 36-26 with 15:26 left. LEC answered with an 11-0 spurt, going ahead, 37-36, with 9:03 remaining.

Jessica Bell slowed the run with a free throw and then Kloecker sank two more from the line, tying the game with 7:24 to go. Nine straight Storm points allowed the hosts to pull away again, but the Lakers battled back. Jumpers by Kloecker and Fisher closed the gap, and then Kloecker drilled a trey at the 1:19 mark, making it 48-46 LEC. The Storm made two free throws to go up four points, but Bell's layup with 47 seconds to play set up Kloecker's tying shot.

Kloecker finished with 20 points on 7-11 shooting. She also had five rebounds and three assists. Piaggesi added eight points and nine boards, while Penascino pulled down 10 rebounds.

Mercyhurst is now 1-1 this season. LEC is 4-0. Mercyhurst heads to Tiffin for another non-conference game on Tuesday, November 26.
