Box Score

DAEMEN, N.Y.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team lost, 69-63, at Daemen (NY) Saturday afternoon. Seven Lakers scored at least six points in the non-conference loss.

The Lakers went down, 39-31, at halftime. They fought back, pulling within one early in the second half and three in the final minute. The Wildcats held on, though, hitting three free throws as time wound down.

Daemen held a slim lead for much of the first half, keeping the Lakers at bay for the first twenty minutes. James Ewing made four foul shots as Mercyhurst used a balanced attack to stay in the contest. The hosts stretched the margin to double digits briefly, but a Jonathan Ouegnin layup in the final minute, made it an eight-point difference.

Jean Onana opened the second half with a three-pointer and then Paul Bilbo split two free throws. Buckets by Ouegnin and Andy Hoying made it 41-39 Daemen with 16:53 to go. After a Wildcat score, Callon Dailey sank a jumper. Sean Beins answered a Daemen hoop with a jump shot to pull within two points at the 14:15 mark. Bilbo made another foul shot to make it 45-44 a minute later. An 11-0 Daemen run allowed the home team to take control.

Hoying recorded 13 points and five rebounds. Onana added 11 points and four steals, while Bilbo and Ouegnin combined for 16 points and 14 boards. Beins tacked on seven points and Dailey and Ewing scored six apiece.

Mercyhurst dropped to 1-3 this season. It hosts Urbana on Saturday, November 30, at 3 p.m.
