ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University women's soccer team fell 7-1 against Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers finished their regular season with an overall record of 9-8-1 and 8-7-1 in the PSAC. Kutztown improved to 12-5-0 overall in the season.
Despite the loss, Mercyhurst has advanced to the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2009. The Lakers over record of 9-8-1 has also marked the best record at the end of the regular season since 2009. That season, the Lakers fell in the first round of the PSAC tournament to Indiana (Pa.) 1-0.

Ellie McDougall gave up a lose rebound in front of the net. Kutztown's Katelynn Jaxheimer scored the eventual game-winner at the 37:41 mark and against at the 42:26.
Kutztown score two more goals before Mercyhurst got their only goal of the contest on the board. Sophomore
Kristina Roberti tallied her third goal of the season after freshman Stephanie Drago crossed a perfect ball for Roberti to head in.
Kutztown continued the pressure with two more goals both scored by Megan Frailer at the 80:38 mark and 89:35 mark of the contest.
The Lakers were outshot 10 to five throughout the entire contest. McDougall made three saves in the entire 90:00 minute to suffer the loss in net.
The Lakers await the seeding for the first round of the PSAC Tournament taking place on Tuesday, November 12.
