SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team lost, 68-67 in overtime, to Alderson-Broaddus Saturday afternoon at the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University. The Battlers made two free throws with 0.5 seconds left in the extra session to beat the Lakers.

The teams were even at 55 in the final minutes of regulation.
Jonathan Ouegnin made a layup with 1:49 left to put Mercyhurst on top, but Adam Kline scored on the other end to tie it again. After each team came away empty on the next possession,
Callon Dailey missed a three-pointer with 16 seconds to play.
H'ian Hale made a steal in the final seconds and found Ouegnin, who's triple try went missing with three seconds remaining, sending the match into overtime.

In the extra period, Ouegnin scored twice in the first minute for a 61-58 edge. An
Andy Hoying jumper expanded the lead to five, but A-B answered with a layup at the 2:42 mark. Malcolm Tatum eventually hit a game-tying trey with 1:11 to go. Hale found Dailey for a jumper and a 65-63 advantage with 41 seconds left.

Ouegnin then blocked a Battler three-point attempt and sank two free throws for a 67-63 lead with 20 seconds showing on the clock. Ali Bilal then made a three to pull within one point with six seconds left. The Lakers missed a pair of free throws with five seconds to go and then Tatum was fouled with 0.5 seconds left. He connected on both tries from the line to win the game.

In the first half, A-B took an early edge, going up, 13-7 with 12:13 to go. Mercyhurst rallied to take the lead into the locker room. Hale sank two foul shots and
Jean Onana nailed a trey. A
Greg Williams three at the 10:59 mark gave the Lakers a 15-13 advantage. Hale followed with a free throw and a lay-in to stretch the margin. Hale scored again at the 8:38 mark, making it 23-16. Buckets by Dailey and
James Ewing put the Lakers ahead, 29-21, with 5:37 remaining.

After the Battlers cut the lead to five,
Paul Bilbo scored inside. An A-B hoop with 54 seconds left made it 31-29, but Ewing scored to give Mercyhurst a 33-29 halftime lead.

Dailey opened the second half with a jumper and then Ouegnin converted in the lane for a 37-31 advantage. Ouegnin then split a pair of foul shots, followed by a Devin Colston three-pointer to tie the game at 38 with 11:44 left.

Hale sank two free throws to regain the lead and then Ewing scored again for a four-point margin. Another Battler trey made it closer, but
Anthony Lytle made a layup with 8:55 to play, giving the Lakers a 44-41 edge. Thylas Perkins answered with a tying three, but Dailey connected from downtown to put the Lakers back ahead. Dailey, a junior, sank another jump shot and then made two free throws for a 53-50 difference at the 5:26 mark. The teams traded a hoop each after that and then A-B hit the trey to even the game at 55 a few minutes later.

Dailey led the Lakers with 17 points and three steals. Ouegnin added 11 points, while Lytle scored nine and pulled down six boards. Hale tacked on nine points and five assists in 37 minutes. Kline paced the Battlers with 13 points and seven rebounds.

As a team, Mercyhurst shot 25-57 (43.9 percent) from the floor and A-B hit 25-50 (50 percent) of its attempts.

The Lakers fell to 0-2 this year. They host Seton Hill in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opener on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m.
