ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst volleyball team opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action on the road this weekend. The Lakers play at Slippery Rock on Friday, October 4, at 7 p.m. and then face Edinboro the next day at 3 p.m.

Mercyhurst has a 9-5 record this season, including a 3-1 showing at a PSAC Crossover last weekend. It defeated East Stroudsburg, Cheyney and West Chester, while falling to Kutztown at home.
Rachel Crittle paces the Laker attack with 148.5 points in 2013 (100 kills, 22 aces, 48 total blocks).
Sarah Vick is next with 120 points (105 kills, four aces, 27 total blocks), while
Camille Alvarez has 115 points (98 kills, 10 aces, 14 total blocks).
Tai Lattimore has a team-high 224 assists and
Kelly Vitt has chipped in with 189 helpers.
Nicole Texido leads the defense with 215 digs.

Slippery Rock is 8-9 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC. It beat East Stroudsburg, Cheyney, and West Chester and lost to Kutztown last weekend. Caroline Houston leads The Rock with 215.5 points (183 kills, 23 aces, 18 total blocks). Kristy Lake is next with 170 (154 kills, eight aces, 15 total blocks). Janna Reilly has 369 assists, while Houston leads a group of five Rock players with over 100 digs this year.

Edinboro is 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the league. It handled Cheyney, West Chester, Kutztown, and East Stroudsburg last weekend. Marah Maycock has 166 points (137 kills, 22 aces, 13 total blocks) and Tabitha Meeks has 165.5 (140 kills, 17 aces, 14 total blocks). Katie Felix has dished out 434 assists and Haley Marett has compiled 349 digs.
