ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore
Nikki Charboneau scored the game-winning goal in the first half to give the Mercyhurst women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday.
The Lakers improved to 8-7-1 overall in the season and 7-6-1 in the PSAC. Indiana (Pa.) fell to 8-7-1 overall and 6-7-1 in the PSAC.
Shots were even throughout the entire contest as both Mercyhurst and the Crimson Hawks tallied ten shots with four reaching the net. Sophomore
Lauren Testa and Charbonneau both tallied two shots a piece.
Charboneau scored her second goal of the season and first game-winner at the 7:53 mark of the first half. Her unassisted goal was a blast from about 20 yards from the Crimson Hawks goal.
Sophomore
Ellie McDougall made four saves to collect her third shutout of the season. She improved to 8-7-1 in the net. Indiana (Pa.) Mara Hricik made four saves.
The Lakers will host their final home contest on Wednesday, October 30 against Mansfield. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
