ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team won, 3-1, over Seton Hill Tuesday afternoon.
Kelsey Lovelace,
Katlyn Heitzhaus, and
Blair Pembleton all scored in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory at Tullio Field.

Seton Hill scored first, going ahead, 1-0, at the 6:59 mark.
Jess Wess followed with two saves in the next five minutes. From there, the Lakers dominated the action. Mercyhurst held the Griffins without a shot for the remainder of the day.

After peppering the Seton Hill defense, the Lakers broke through to tie the match in the 22
nd minute.
Tracey Mason inserted a penalty corner to
Meghan Smith, who passed back to Mason. She played the ball through the defense, where Lovelace redirected the loose ball into the cage.

Mercyhurst tried four more shots in the following minutes, but it was a breakaway that led to go-ahead goal. Pembleton dribbled into the offensive zone and passed ahead to Heitzhaus on the left side. She passed back to Pembleton, who forced the Griffin goalkeeper to commit to the right side. Pembleton then shoveled back to Heitzhaus, who easily finished and gave the hosts a 2-1 edge at the 29:44 mark.

Pembleton expanded the margin early in the second half. The junior dribbled in from the left side and made a move to beat the SHU goalkeeper, scoring 30 seconds into the period.

The Lakers outshot the Griffins, 17-3, and had a 13-4 advantage in penalty corners. Wess finished with two saves.

Mercyhurst improved to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference Seton Hill fell to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC. The Lakers travel to #1 Shippensburg on Saturday, October 19, for another PSAC contest.
