ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 78-55, to #22 Bloomsburg Saturday evening at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Dana Banda led with 19 points in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover.
Bloom took an early lead and eventually went up 26-10 with 8:03 left in the first half. A 12-0 Laker run got the home team back in the game.
Abby Allen made two free throws and then
Kaylee Foster scored inside.
Taylor Krusinski split two free throws and followed with an and-one to make it 26-18. Banda connected on 3-4 from the foul line and then
Adrienne Kloecker hit a free throw, cutting the deficit to 26-22 with 2:01 left in the half.
After a Husky bucket, Kloecker drained a three-pointer. Catherine Noack responded with a hoop to make the score 30-25 at the break.
The visitors came out rolling in the second frame, as Dana Wieller made three treys in the first 5:38 to give Bloom a 44-27 advantage. The Lakers never got closer than 12 after that.
Banda hit 4-8 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw stripe for 19 points. Kloecker made two triples on her way to nine points. She also grabbed five rebounds. Krusinski added eight points, while Foster had seven points and four boards. Wieller led Bloom with 20 points on six threes.
Mercyhurst shot 14-42 (33.3 percent) from the field and the Huskies hit 29-57 (50.9 percent) of their attempts.
The Lakers dropped to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in the PSAC. Bloom is 8-3 and 4-3 in the conference.
The Lakers next travel to West Chester and Cheyney January 11-12 for their final PSAC crossover contests.
