Women's Basketball Hosts Two PSAC Crossovers at the MAC

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts Mansfield and Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover games January 4-5. Both contests are set for 5:30 p.m. tip-offs at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

The Lakers have a 2-7 overall mark, including a 1-4 record in conference action. They dropped two games in Florida last weekend, falling at #23 Rollins, 62-53, on December 29 and then losing to Cedarville (Ohio), 61-59 in overtime, the next day. Freshman Adrienne Kloecker scored 12 points in both games, sinking seven three-pointers on the weekend. Alayna White posted 20 points and 23 rebounds in the two games.
 
Mansfield is 3-6 in 2012-13, with a 1-4 PSAC record. It lost, 71-60, to Le Moyne on January 2-the team's fourth consecutive loss. Jena Matter led the Mountaineers with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Alyssa DeRichie had 10 points and eight boards in the defeat.
 
Bloom has a 7-2 record, including a 3-2 PSAC mark. It won the PSAC Eastern Division in 2011-12 and was the preseason favorites to repeat this year. It beat Edinboro, 84-59, on December 2, in the Huskies' biggest win to date. In Bloom's last outing, it won at Philadelphia, 86-65, on December 30. Lauren Ellis hit 12-13 field goal tries on her way to 25 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Senior Kaylee Foster leads the Lakers with 11.6 points per game. She is shooting 50 percent from the floor. Dana Banda is next with 9.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2 steals per game.  
 
Matter paces Mansfield with 10.7 points and 7.4 boards per game. Katie Fitzpatrick, Julia Stevenson, and Kayla Espigh are each scoring between 9.0 and 9.8 points per contest.
 
Dana Wieller, a preseason all-PSAC East First Team selection, is one of the top players in the conference, recording 14.4 points (fourth in PSAC), 3.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. Ellis is putting up 12.4 points and 7.4 rebounds.
