Women's Basketball Travels to #10 Gannon Wednesday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team makes the short trip downtown to face rival Gannon on Wednesday, January 23. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start at the Hammermill Center.

The Lakers sport a 5-10 overall mark and a 5-6 PSAC record. They won, 60-44, at Slippery Rock on Saturday. Kaylee Foster scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds, while the Mercyhurst defense allowed a season-low point total. The Rock hit 3-21 field goals in the first half and 1-19 three-point attempts in the game.
 
Gannon has a 16-2 overall record and a 10-1 conference mark. It beat California (Pa.), 65-53, on Saturday, after losing at Edinboro on Wednesday. In the win over Cal, Jen Papich led with 19 points and eight rebounds. Against Edinboro, the Lady Knights committed 21 turnovers and did not make a three-pointer for the first time in 2012-13.
 
Foster is scoring 11.1 points per game to lead the Lakers. Dana Banda is putting up 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. She leads the league in minutes played. Alayna White is averaging 7.7 points and 4.9 boards per game, while shooting 53.5 percent from the field.
 
The Knights feature a balanced attack, with four players averaging double-digit points. Papich is recording 13.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Brittany Batts is next with 12.8 points, having made 59 threes this season. Nettie Blake and Mollie Sebald are combining for 20.7 points per game.
