ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team travels East for two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contests this weekend. The Lakers play at West Chester on Friday, January 11, at 5:30 p.m. and then take on Cheyney on Saturday, January 12, at 1 p.m.

The Lakers have a 3-8 overall record and a 3-4 PSAC mark. Last weekend, they beat Mansfield, 75-60, and then fell to then-#22 Bloomsburg, 78-55, the next day. Against Mansfield,
Kelley McBroom scored a career-high 12 points as part of a bench that totaled 37 points.
Dana Banda tied a career high with eight assists. Banda then scored a season-high 19 points in the Bloom loss.
Kaylee Foster leads the Lakers with 11.1 points per game. Banda is next with 10.4 points.
Abby Allen paces the team with 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and two steals per game.
West Chester is 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference. It swept two road games last weekend, beating Clarion and Lock Haven. Ambreelinne Ortman led with 19 points in the win at Clarion. The next day, the Rams rallied from a ten-point halftime deficit to win at Lock Haven. Brittany Sicinski scored 21 points.
Alex Lennon leads the Rams with 11.5 points and 7.7 rebounds, while shooting 51 percent from the field. She also leads the PSAC in with 39 blocked shots. Dallas Ely, Ortman, and Sicinski are each scoring between 10.5 and 11 points per game. West Chester is second in the conference in made three-pointers (88) and three-point field goal percentage (37.3).
Cheyney is 0-10 this season. The Wolves lost at Lock Haven and Clarion last weekend, extending their losing streak to 42 games, dating back to the 2010-11 season. Kyra Hines-Allen scored 21 points and grabbed eight boards in the loss to Lock Haven and then led with 14 points at Clarion. This season, Hines-Allen and Tamara Russell are combining to average 16.8 points per game.
