Women's Soccer Suffers 5-0 Loss to Slippery Rock Wednesday

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer fell to #10 Slippery Rock Wednesday with a score of 5-0.  Freshman Nikki Charboneau had 3 shots but could not muster a goal for the Lakers.
 
The Lakers outshot the Rock dominating the majority of the first half, 9 to 7.  Although it was Slippery Rock's junior Izabel Scott's goal from long range with only 11 minutes left that gave them the lead going into the half.   
 
Four minutes into the second, Slippery Rock sophomore Lucy Hannon scored finishing a long cross set by freshman Caitlin Binder.   The Rock would then pull ahead as Binder would record another two assists on junior Steph Buckenheimer's goals, numbers three and four of the match.  The final goal was made by junior Lauren Impey and assisted by Buckenheimer at the 88:02 mark.
 
Ellie McDougall takes the loss for the Lakers moving her record to 2-1-0.  Brooke Morrison made her first appearance of the season, playing 17 minutes and allowing two goals.  The Rock goalie junior Dana O'Neill takes the win, moving to 2-0-0.
 
The Lakers fall to 2-1-0 record, 0-1-0 in conference play.  After the win Slippery Rock moves to a 2-0-0 and 1-0-0 in the conference.
 
Mercyhurst will play again on Saturday, September 8, against Urbana University (Oh.).  The time of the match will be at 1 p.m.
