Senior Alex Manea scores the game-winning goal off a pass from Matt Campana.
Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team upset #22 Slippery Rock at Slippery Rock University on Thursday by a score of 1-0.  The Lakers remain undefeated in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), 3-0-0.

Sophomore Fernando Martinez and senior Alex Manea both totaled 4 shots apiece against the Rock, however it was Manea who scored the only goal of the match.  At the 18:54 mark, junior Matt Campana passed the ball over the Rock defensemen and Manea went one-on-one against Slippery Rock senior goalie Clayton Master.  With fashion, Manea guessed right and scored the game-winning goal.

The Rock had a few opportunities but could not capitalize, hitting the cross bar in the first half and missing a wide open net from a corner kick in the second.

The Rock outshot the Lakers 12-11 and  led 5-3 in corners.

Lakers' senior goaltender Diego Gustin recorded the shutout and made three saves in improving his record to 4-3.  Master (3-1-3) took the loss for the Rock and was credited with three saves.

Mercyhurst continues its road trip next Monday when it plays at West Virginia Wesleyan.
