MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst University women's tennis team continued to have a fresh start to the season as they prevailed 7-2 over the Allegheny Gators.  The win improved the Lakers' record to 2-0.

Caroline Bristol, Courtney Thompson, and Sarah Baich had little trouble in their respective singles matches as each of them turned in stellar performances.  Devon Hubbard, after losing the first set of her No. 6 singles match, rallied to win the last two sets to lock up the win.  In doubles play, Bristol and Baich practically cruised through the No. 1 match, while Thompson and Rebecca Haener persevered a grueling No. 2 match to come out on top.

Mercyhurst will travel to Bloomsburg, Pa. for the PSAC Singles/Doubles Tournament on Sept. 15 & 16.
