Box Score ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst field hockey team beat Seton Hill, 4-1, Tuesday afternoon at Tullio Field.

Cayla Slade, and
Marissa Faso each scored for the Lakers in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division victory.
Mercyhurst came out strong, as Heitzhaus followed a
Kelsey Lovelace attempt with a rebound goal just 2:24 into the match. The Lakers continued pressure and eventually, Hynes put away a loose ball in front of the cage for a 2-0 advantage midway through the first half.
Natasha Nichols got the Griffins back into the game with a goal at the 21:08 mark. The visitors kept their attack going as the half wound down, but
Jessica Richards and the Laker defense held the one-goal edge. The hosts outshot SHU, 7-3, in the first 35 minutes.
Slade, a freshman, gave Mercyhurst insurance early in the second frame, as she redirected a loose ball into the net 46 seconds into the half. Faso capped the scoring at the 49:09 mark, batting in a loose ball off a penalty corner.
Richards got her first win of the season, making one save. The Lakers had nine penalty corners to just five for Seton Hill.
Mercyhurst improves to 2-2 and 1-1 in league action. The Griffins are now 2-2 and 0-1 in the PSAC.

Stacey Gaudette's squad hits the road for three contests before returning home September 22. The Lakers play at Millersville and Bloomsburg this weekend.
