ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University softball team prepares to travel to Florida to play in four doubleheaders during its spring break trip, stretching from February 25 to March 1.

The Lakers begin their tour of Florida on Saturday, Feb. 25 against Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.  The first game is slated at 1:00 while the second is scheduled to start at 3:30.  Through their first 13 games of the season the Fighting Knights are 0-13.  Mercyhurst is 2-2 all-time against Lynn facing off against them in the past two seasons.  Last season the Lakers split with the Fighting Knightswinning their first game 12-8 before dropping the night cap, 10-5 in five innings.

After a short two-day break the Lakers will make their way to Miami where Barry University will play host in the Lakers second twinbill of the trip.  Barry is 11-2 so far this season playing all of its game on the road.  Mercyhurst is 1-3 all-time against the Buccaneers.  Mercyhurst looks to avenge being swept last season by the Bucs in this seasons meeting.  Game time is set for 4 p.m. on Feb. 28.

From there the Lakers will play a doubleheader against Nova Southeastern University at Fort Lauderdale.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Feb. 29.  The Sharks of Nova Southeastern are 10-8 on the year with a 5-2 home record.  The Sharks hold a 4-0 all-time advantage in the series.  Last season the Lakers battled to two tough losses against Nova Southeastern losing 2-1 and 3-1.

In the Lakers last doubleheader in the sunshine state they will face Palm Beach Atlantic in Palm Beach, Fla.  The Sailfish are 11-6 this season heading into their showdown with the Lakers.  The two teams will compete against one another in Gaines Park at 5 p.m.  All-time the Sailfish hold a slight advantage with a 3-2 record over the Lakers.  The two teams last faced off in 2010 when Palm Beach Atlantic swept the 'Hurst.
